A hawk soars above the valleys and mountains between Santa Fe and Albuquerque, New Mexico on an autumn afternoon. Aspen are just past their peak, and conifers can be seen in the distance. I was standing in the Sangre de Cristo mountains, looking back towards the Sandia Mountains in the far distance.
