Artist's Description

I watched this nest for a while, saw first one egg, then another, and another, until finally the first egg hatched. I quit stopping by on my walk to check the nest after this, not wanting to disturb the young birds. The nest is deep inside a cholla cactus in the desert southwest of New Mexico. Not sure of the species, although it may be a finch.
