Description
The Nene is the state bird of Hawaii. It is also the rarest goose species on earth. The nene is exclusively found in the wild on the islands of Oahu, Maui, Kauaʻi, Molokai, and Hawaiʻi. Its webbed feet have adapted to the lava soils of the islands. At one time, the population numbered only 60.
This image was made with Kodak Film at the turn of the century.
