Paul Caponigro made a famous image called "Shoreline, Montauk Beach, Long Island NY" in 1972. When I saw it, it reminded me of this image I made in black and white of Ebey's Landing on Whidbey Island. Working in black and white, I tried to capture the shimmer and shine of the water, whereas Caponigro accentuated the shoreline in his image. Yet somehow, I think we both were looking for an emotional shape.
