Description
Prickly Pear cacti - Opuntia robusta - blooms profusely in late spring and early summer in the arid southwestern United States. Flowers of this variety tend to yellow, but every so often, one of the plants has a tinge of deep peach or orange to it, such as this one. Flowers open in the heat of the day, and close at night. These blooms were just starting to close on a warm New Mexico evening. The inside of the flower is dusted with a multitude of pollen
