The Hill of Crosses in Siauliai, Lithuania, is a testament to both the faith and perseverance of the Lithuanians. The crosses were bulldozed several times during Soviet occupation, but always reappeared. Now anyone can visit the Hill of Crosses and leave their own cross or rosary at the site.
This particular image of Christ is also known as Pensive Christ and it is quite common in Lithuania in many folk art forms.
