Description
Stahleck Castle overlooks the Lorelei Valley along the Rhine river in Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany. The name comes from the Middle High German and means "impregnable castle on a crag." Built in the 12th century, the castle is used today as a youth hostel. Vineyards surround the castle in this autumn image. It is one of the few existing castles with a moat.
