An open expanse of grass valley provides a foreground to a few lonely trees. Mountain ridges fade away in the background to a summer sky. This is the Valles Caldera National Preserve near Los Alamos, New Mexico in late summer. The volcanic caldera is over 13 miles long and lies in the Jemez Mountains.
