Description
Dating back to the Middle Ages, the Gravensteen is a fabulous historic castle in the North Belgian city of Ghent (or Gent) . In the Dutch language, its name means 'Castle of The Counts'. The grounds of the castle are steeped in history, with archaeological excavations proving that three fortified castles built from wood stood on the site of todays Gravensteen and the first stone castle was erected around the year 1000. The castle we see today has been exquisitely restored to its former glory and draws in a huge amount of visitors, eager to step back in time. I blended textures and grain with my original photograph in black and white.
