I added several layers of patterns to give this image of a Great Blue Heron in flight with nesting material a textured feel. I photographed this at Cuyahoga Valley National Park in NE Ohio. During the mating season, the male GBH's make one trip after another to retrieve nesting material while the female builds the nest. It's quite an amazing sight to witness a large number of males flying back and forth all day. Sometimes, they lose their way and return to the wrong awaiting female and a loud squabble ensues.
