Ko-kwahl-alwoot is a guardian of the Samish People of northwestern Washington. She risked her life to save the Samish from starvation by marrying a man of the sea. Ko-kwahl-alwoot lives eternally underwater. Here she glows with the orange of the setting sun at Rosario Beach near Deception Pass.
