During the 1960s and 70s the peace symbol was ubiquitous. One saw it everywhere. The symbol is still with us in the 21st century. Here an artist has drawn the word Peace and the Peace Symbol on the Santa Cruz beach in California. When I talked to him about his artwork, he told me he thought it was a message that was needed today. The artist also created it at low tide so the symbol would wash out into the world at high tide.
