Description
The Sandia Mountains on the east side of Albuquerque, New Mexico, are often used by the locals to tell direction ("the mountains are east, the mesa is west..."). This view is from the north end of the Sandias, and one can easily see the geologic uplift, which created the steep western edge of the mountain chain, and the sloping eastern edge. The Sandias are just about the south end of the Rocky Mountain chain.
